Dumi International Aid in the community

Dumi International Aid (based in our hub in Coventry) hosted a very successful HIV/AIDS sports event in July 2016. This was funded by Big Lottery Fund with about 350 people in attendance.

It was a fantastic event with families coming together to play football, net-ball, tug of war athletics as well as children’s games.

The communities continue to be inspired and use Dumi’s successful events as a catalyst for on-going community led activities to break down stigma and myths attached to HIV through sports events and active lifestyles.

These events also promote good health and encourage local social interaction to reduce social isolation. At its heart, this programme helps families and communities to become more active and share experiences of how some have lived well with HIV. It also creates many other beneficial outcomes such as encouraging volunteering, engaging communities, building local partnerships and Improving health.

Thank you Centric, landlords, and everyone who’s played a part in establishing this fantastic community resource in Brighton. You’ve made a crucial difference to the development of our charity and the health and well-being of a large number of people in need
