A Mayors Award for a clown!

We are delighted to announce that one of our charity tenants,  Jonathan Russell, better known as Jonathan the Jester has received The Mayors Award in Amesbury for his work in The Community.

Debrah Biggs said:  “Wessex Community Action would like to publicly congratulate Jonathan Russell (AKA Jonathan the Jester) on receiving the Community Award 2016 from the Mayor of Amesbury, on behalf of Amesbury Town Council. Councillors voted to make this award to Jonathan in recognition of his work with the Young People of Amesbury and for the work that he does at the Amesbury Youth Cafe.

When he was first told of the award, Jonathan went red and was visibly chuffed.    He said “I have a lot of help from many wonderful people.  Amesbury is a really nice place to live and work right now and I am aware that an awful lot of people deserve recognition so it is very nice to receive this.”

“To all the people who have patiently supported my efforts, those who have lugged stuff, sat in the cold, sat in empty rooms or endured the noise and the heat in jam packed rooms, who did all the toiling that goes behind the fun we produce. and for all those that joined in the fun, supported the fun and added lots more fun… THANK YOU!   I am more thrilled than you can imagine.”   Jonathan said on receipt of his shield.

Jonathan manages the Amesbury Youth Cafe and works with The Buzz Action Roadshow and helps young people manage other projects and activities in Amesbury.   Often seen out in the Skateparks and other locations Jonathan is often seen in all weathers engaging and chatting to everybody.

Jody Huxley, Chair of Wessex Community Circus said:  “I am rather proud of how well Jonathan T Jester the jester has done and our circus is very lucky to have him.”
